"3 times in Pereira and I only learnt about Emilio's now?! I went for breakfast and it was just perfect, from the outdoor seating to the kind service to the tasty and generous portions. You know it's a good day when you get complementary buñuelos! The hot chocolate in water was so tasty and my pumpkin pancakes with fresh fruit and cream were HUGE... And delicious"

"Emilio Valencia, the chef and proprietor of this well appointed restaurant in Pereira has tv star looks and lots of culinary talent. The downside is that his restaurant has been hijacked by Colombians who want to celebrate their birthdays loudly in the most fancy place in town and so now this has become a birthday place with loud singing and food that comes out less than warm. I was enjoying the low prices snd decided to try everything on the menu. I got the chocolate milk with cheese inside accompanied by buñuelos. The chocolate milk and cheese was awesome. The first time I’ve ever tried it after wanting to and seeing a hilarious YouTube video about ir a few years ago. The quantity of cheese is overwhelming and the chocolate milk cup is massive. The Buñuelos were delicate and delicious. Perfect in fact. Don’t opt for arepas if you can is my advice always. Next came a caldo de costilla. It was superb. A rib beef soup and stew with onions and potatoes and so much meat that was soft from hours on the stove. The cost of this dish was like 7,500 col pesos which is like $2.00 and ridiculously low. It was the best soup I’ve had in a long time and it was by far the best thing i tried. Get this soup if you can. It’s a bargain and a steal. I feel guilty for how little i paid for it. So yummy. It comes in a steel pot with two arepas i kindly discarded because i do not believe arepas are actually food. But that’s just me (and any other exigent person on earth save for 100 million Colombian and Venezuelans.) Next came the Casado breakfast platter. It’s massive. There is a soltero one which is smaller and another even smaller one but i was on a mission to try everything so here’s the rundown: Pancake - wonderful. Came at room temperature so should have been warmer but was light fluffy and thick. Pancake syrup - had some cinammon or spice in it which wasn’t necessary. Keep it simple with syrup if you just offer one is my advice. The eggs - well cooked - not as warm as would be desired Bacon - plentiful portion. Yummy. Good quality meat. Awesome. Sausages. - decent. Not worth getting. Skip it. Hash brown - beautiful shape and texture but served cold it didn’t really speak to me. I would skip it. Orange juice - fresh but not enough pulp. Bonus - they have sriracha sauce here if you need a kick to your eggs or potatoes or whatever. Server - Fabiano. Excellent. Professional and attended to the table that needed fixing and got me the much needed toothpicks to help me with the costillas i still had stuck in my teeth. Damn those costillas caldo was so good! Emilio - I’ll be back. Hopefully when there aren’t as many noisy birthday people around. Your food and beautiful restaurant deserves more appreciation than a TGIfridays or a Chuck E. Cheese."
